Cats need grasses to cleanse their system
and get up hairballs. Grow your cat some grass!

FUS (Feline Urinary Syndrome) or FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease) is very serious condition which has become very common in last few decades in indoor cats. The main culprit in pathogenesis of this disease is excess of Magnesium and wrong diet. Therefore something as simple as change in preparation of food for your cats can have dramatic effects on your cat’s health.
Cats that suffer from urinary problems should be fed with this basic recipe:
This will yield 400 g which should be used in maximum 2 to 3 days. Depending on the size of your cat feed 120 -220 g per cat daily.
To this basic recipe you can add following vegetables for variety:
Celery, Squashes (in Malta mostly marrows or Zucchini), Carrots and Green Peas. All these vegetables can be fed fresh, finely chopped or lightly cooked.
You can also add alfalfa leaf or alfalfa sprouts. The best is to grow alfalfa yourself but if your thumb isn’t particularly green or if planting and harvesting isn’t your thing, buy some organic alfalfa powder or dried alfalfa to add to your pet’s meals.
Vitamin C is especially important for cats because it helps strengthen the urinary tract and bladder walls and helps destroy bacteria associated with feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD). The best is to use vitamin C in powder form which can be sprinkled on the food. Before adding vitamin C make sure food is cooled to a room temperature.
